Baby Boy Fall Clothes From H&M

IMG_9545
IMG_9566

Recently, I went a little wild on H&M's website for baby clothes... and I do not regret a thing! I continue to buy Andrew's baby clothes from H&M because the quality is great and the prices are amazing. Also, they have sales almost every weekend it feels like!

For this fall haul of clothes for Andrew, I wanted to make sure every item was practical and could be worn many ways. For example, I wanted many pairs of pants to be able to wear with many different bodysuits, sweaters, sweatshirts, and t-shirts. I really just love dressing him cozy! I always want him to feel comfortable and his clothes to be soft. That is so important to me. Anyone else that way?!

Currently, H&M has a huge selection of baby clothes for both girls and boys. Every piece is so trendy and adorable! I have noticed that with their baby clothes lately, sizes go pretty quick. If you see an outfit you are wanting for your baby, I would buy quickly. They might have more in stock in store, but I haven't been to an H&M to check out the baby clothes in awhile!

Below I am linking items I purchased for Andrew. He is currently 28 weeks old and about 19 pounds. I bought him 12 month clothes that he should fit into this fall! I will also link favorite baby boy items and baby girl items!

Beach With a Baby

IMG_7202

We just got back from our family beach trip on Tuesday and we had truly the best time ever. My family has been going to Myrtle Beach since I was little and I was so excited to bring our own baby in on that tradition! My parents own a house in Myrtle that we are fortunate enough to go to and we were able to eat at home, cook, and go to the beach all while keeping our distance from anyone.

I named this blog post "Beach With a Baby" because it is DIFFERENT! Let me tell ya! But better than any other beach trip I promise! Seeing your baby observe something new for the first time is truly incredible. Spending time like this together as a family is also incredible. I already wish we could go back!

IMG_7201

The trip to and from the beach

For the ride down (about 7 hours), we left around 4:30pm because Andrew's bedtime is 7pm. This was SO helpful! I packed two bottles in a small cooler and was able to feed him with those. He fell asleep around 7pm and was out for the entire trip until we got to the house at 12am! YAY! We got lucky. We stopped for one diaper change and burp session and then had to stop for gas a separate time that he slept through. To prepare for the ride we downloaded a Mickey Mouse Clubhouse to play incase he got fussy (this helped big time on the way home). We also brought lots of little toys that he could grab and bite if needed. I do have to say though that our dog was panting from the back the whole time and staring at him and I think Andrew loved every second of it! Haha!

What we packed for the beach

I will link everything at the end, but I basically packed everything that he needs from a day to day basis. We brought his monitor, sleep suit, hatch sound machine, packnplay, and then clothes and what not! All of this was very helpful. I loved having the monitor so we could go down stairs or be outside with the peace of mind that he was okay.

As far as beach products go, we only actually went to the beach twice (we are the worst- I used to be someone who laid in sun from 10 am- 3 pm, but it is much different with a baby!). We used Think Baby sunscreen (highly recommend), an adorable swimsuit set with a rash guard, and a bucket hat.  Those are an absolute must in my opinion to keep your baby safe from the sun and nice and cool. We also had an umbrella! Each day we pushed him down in his stroller to the beach (house is about a block from the beach) and then would fold up the stroller once we got to the sand and carried him down. Someone would sit with him in a chair when we got to the beach. The pool where we were was closed for safety reasons, so we brought his little blow up pool and used that each day. So fun and he loved it! *I asked so many questions before the trip and so many moms gave all these suggestions. They helped a TON and helped me feel more confident! I also had my mom to help with ideas.

For toys, we packed his Sit Me Up (needed for rice cereal feedings) and his piano mat. He was held so much throughout the week, but still loved his toys! We also packed the Baby Bjorn which I was so glad that I did! I used it in the mornings to walk on the beach with him and it was so much fun.

The trip in general

We truly had the best trip and I hope everyone gets to get out and away if even only for a little! For me, I needed to get out of the house and spending time with my family made my heart feel so full. I have to say- there is nothing like seeing your siblings or parents with your baby! I mean it seriously makes my heart burst in joy. We were also able to see my grandparents which was wonderful. I know it made them so happy to see Andrew and he was excited to see them! I already cannot wait for our next trip. If you are nervous about traveling with a baby, I understand. You can do it. Your baby will love it and you both will grow from it! Is there anywhere you are planning on going this summer?

xo,

Jess

Favorite Baby Items 3-4 Months

IMG_6508

I am writing this in just pure disbelief that my baby is FOUR MONTHS old! The time has gone by so so fast. Andrew is changing so much each day it's incredible. Four months is a really fun time. He is noticing so much around him, loves to make noises, has just started giggling, rolling, pulling Oakley's hair (our dog), and loves to play and be held all the time.

I want to share with you all some baby products that we really love right now for Andrew. First, I want to talk about his current toys that he loves!

Piano Mat

Andrew has loved this mat forever! It is the best toy that babies can use for months! Right now he loves to lay on the mat and roll over. As he gets bigger, he will be able to sit up and hit the piano keys!

Animal Activity Jumperoo

This jumper is the best! Andrew will sit and bounce in it happily for so long. It makes him soo happy. I love watching his excitement as he bounces and plays with all the little animals around it! It is also a great price and is easy to assemble.

Sit Me Up Floor Seat

This seat is sooo helpful. I love it so much and I am pretty sure Andrew does too! When he is sitting in this seat he looks comfortable and happy. It comes with two toys that he can play with (which is perfect for right now because he wants to grab everything). It is also so convenient. I love using it during dinner time and whenever we are sitting outside on the deck. We are going to the beach next week and we are definitely bringing this with us!

Next, I want to share our favorite baby gear that really help us day in day out. Everything I am sharing are tried and true and I would recommend them to everyone!

Bedtime Items

On bath nights, we use this Johnson's Sleepy Time Baby set. This set comes with shampoo, soap, and a lotion. We use this combination and I really feel like it helps relax and calm him before bed. When it is not bath night, we still use the Sleepy Time lotion for his baby massage!!

After bath, fresh diaper change, and books, we put him in the Baby Merlin's Magic Sleepsuit. We started using this a little after three months and it really helps him sleep through the night! He will sleep 7:30- 5:30 with this sleepsuit! Plus he looks like the cutest little marshmallow in this! This suit is made to help with the transition from a swaddle. Andrew stopped being swaddled at one month, but he moves a lot when sleeping, this just helps him be a little more stationary! When using this, be sure that they don't get too hot! I put Andrew in a short sleeve onesie under the sleepsuit.

While he is sleeping we use this monitor and this sound machine. This sound machine is the best thing ever. Andrew loves watching me turn it on and change the colors and the sounds! We turn this on right away at the start of the bedtime routine.

Daily Favorites

During the day we use these pacis all the time. They are scattered throughout the house! Andrew lovvvves them and I have heard from so many other moms that their children love them as well! We also use Huggies diapers and Huggies wipes!

I hope some of these items help you and your baby! What items do you use with your baby that you love?! I would love to learn about new baby products below!

Jess

My Favorite Room in the House

Andrew's room is easily the best room in our home. It just feels calm, inviting, and clean (although it is often messy- haha)! When we were designing this room it was a bit tricky because the space is small. Although it is small, it has tall ceilings that make it feel bigger when you are in it, which I love! Since the room is small I wanted to do white furniture and light blue and gray accents to keep the room feeling bright! To me the brightness makes it feel bigger!

Everything we have in this room I absolutely love and would recommend to anyone. We spend so much time in here and it makes me feel so happy to have a room that is special for Andrew. One of my absolute favorite parts of the room (Tyler's too) would be this chair and ottoman. I find myself coming in this room a lot to feed him because the chair and ottoman are so comfy! Tyler loves them because it is the best place to sit and read him a book. We keep a big basket of books right next to the chair for easy access. The chair glides back and forth and the color matches perfectly with the room.

Some items are from Home Goods and Hobby Lobby (baskets and "Now I lay me" wall decor) so I cannot link them. The mobile above the crib is from Restoration Hardware and was super easy to hang! I will link everything I can below.

Baby Clothes with H&M

IMG_1163

Baby clothes are my favorite. Spring baby clothes are just so adorable and I am having way too much fun looking and shopping them. H&M has easily become my favorite place to shop for Andrew's clothes. Not only are the items so affordable, but the quality is SO nice! I have rounded up some adorable pieces for both baby girls and boys. All  items are under $15!

Mommy & Me: Matching Your Baby!

IMG_1184
IMG_1173

Okay I am not embarrassed to admit that when I dress Andrew I think to myself, 'What do I have that can match him?' haha! It makes me so happy. Why?! Who knows. Today I am going to share a few outfits for both you and baby to match! I will share both girls and boys items! The boy items I will be sharing are mostly items that Andrew has. If you are like me, you may have some of the items for yourself already in the closet.

The first look is all blue and white items. I am obsessed with blue and white for spring so it is no surprise that I bought Andrew these adorable blue and white pull on pants! He is wearing size 4-6 months and I have to say how AMAZING they are! They roll at the side and fit him perfectly now, but I can also undo the button to make them longer as he grows! The waist is also pretty big and I was able to tie it tighter with the string. They are so stinking cute I could barely handle it. For me, I wore a frilly blue and white skirt (that is a great length) and a white off the shoulder top. You can shop both of our items through the links below.

IMG_1356

This next look is a springy casual look. I know we all are not going anywhere right now, but I have found it fun to put on real clothes for a little throughout the day  (I'm also obsessed with clothes) or to set the table and have an at home date night. For Andrew he has a tan and white striped shirt (too big for him because I bought for him to grow into) and these adorable tan little shorts! These shorts are just incredible because he will grow into them and they come in a pack of THREE! Yes please! For these pictures, I dressed Andrew in an all white set with a onesie underneath. This set was a gift and he looks like a little teacher in it! It is so so cute! I think it's a very gender neutral outfit. My outfit doesn't exactly match him, but it has similar colors so we can call that a match in my book! I love this blouse so much. It is so beautiful with the billowy sleeves and the print. The buttons down the front are so flattering. It looks great with high-waisted jeans but will also be perfect with shorts in the summer. I also found such adorable outfits for little girls to go with my outfit. You can shop all the items right below.

IMG_1376

So this is a look that you see us in almost every single day. I certainly wear this set once a week! I will link some of my favorite tie-dye options below. As for Andrew, his classic daily outfit is a onesie and sweet little joggers or leggings! Here he is wearing the adorable set from the photo above as well.

I hope you enjoyed this post! This was so fun for me to do so I will probably do more in the future as Andrew grows. Thank you for reading!

XO,

Jess 🙂

Baby Easter Basket Ideas

IMG_0357

Hi guys! Happy Friday!! Do Fridays matter anymore?! I honestly think YES. Now we have the weekend to really relax and not think about how we are working from home. Save that worry for Monday.

I hope this post finds you and your family well. My heart has been so heavy this past week with the severity of the coronavirus and the numbers climbing quickly. I am working each day to remind myself of what I am grateful for, look at the positives, and do my best with what I can! Hopefully you can do this as well. I am currently "teaching" or "distance learning" from home and seeing my students work does bring joy to me and I am happy to see that this can keep them busy while learning and gives them a bit of a schedule! I also get to cuddle with Andrew all day for much longer than I had thought and for that I am BEYOND thankful for.

I am also spending time browsing the internet and pinterest and finding so many cute things! This week I was really focused on all things Easter, because it is next Sunday! Easter is my favorite holiday. For the meaning of it, the season of it, and just the overall feeling it gives. I was thrilled to finally be a parent and put together an Easter basket for Andrew! Don't worry, I know he will not remember this. However, it is special to me and he is going to get one every year until he's 18!!! Maybe even longer honestly. Haha!

I found great items for baby's for both a girl Easter Basket and a boy Easter basket. You can shop all the links below. The toys I am linking Andrew either already has (and absolutely loves) or is getting in Easter basket (like this one). All of these should have fast shipping and should get to you by next week if you order soon! I hope this is helpful 🙂 Enjoy your Friday friends!

Baby Outfits

IMG_0010

This post is for all my boy mamas out there! Girl mamas... I can hardly look at the little girl clothes out there because they are SO CUTE! But, I have to say I have found some adorable outfits for boys as well and I can't wait to see Andrew in them!

Andrew is going to be two months Sunday (how is he two months?!). This week I went through his drawers and cleared out all the items that are now too small for him (I will save them in case we have another boy). I cannot believe how this little man is chunking up! It was like we woke up one day this week and our baby was huge! He is wearing his 0-3 month clothes for the last few times and is moving on to his 3 month outfits. Spring and Summer is quickly approaching so I want to have clothes that he can wear as it gets hotter. He does have quite a bit of clothes right now to grow into but I would say most of them are all baseball themed! Which is fine! That is his Daddy's favorite of course:) I just want to take advantage of this precious time and dress him so cute!

Some of my favorite places to shop for him are H&M, Zara Kids, Carters, Baby Gap, Old Navy, and Target. Also- I am not going to be one to buy expensive pieces of clothes for Andrew. I am quickly learning how fast he grows and he only wears some items once or twice! While all the baby clothes out there are so cute, I want to be practical. Along with being practical, I am learning that these stores have sales all the time! When those sales hit- time to stock up!

IMG_0281

I can hardly handle how cute all the baby joggers, hats, and shirts are! I love them all. And can we talk about baby overalls?! So. Adorable. All links above are shoppable 🙂 I hope you enjoyed!

XO,

Jess

Baby Favorites and Three Week Update

IMG_6978

I can hardly believe that Andrew is three weeks old today! The past three weeks have flown by and we have loved all of it. Being a mommy is seriously the biggest blessing of my life. I don't know how I had my life before he existed. So far, Andrew has been such a sweet baby and we feel incredibly lucky. He eats a ton, sleeps at night (wakes up at 2 am and 6 am for feedings), makes big poopy diapers, loves to look around with big wide eyes, dislikes bath time and getting dressed, and loves his parents. I love watching his face when he hears his daddy talking to him or see him take in the morning light when we wake up.

In the last three weeks, we definitely have discovered some of our favorite baby items and they have made life with a newborn go fairly smoothly!! If you are a soon to be mama, I hope these items can help you form your baby registry. When I began working on my registry I had no clue where to start so I relied heavily on my friends who were moms and registered for the items they recommended! All of their recommendations were right and I am so so glad I asked for their advice. Never be scared to ask questions or for help. Other moms want to help you and make things the best they can be for you. I am beyond thankful for my friends and family who have children because they have helped SO much! Anyways, there are SO many items out there for babies and everyone makes you feel like you need it all and it can be overwhelming. You don't need it all and you don't need the most expensive items! Some things you may even want to wait to buy until you meet your baby, because every baby is so different.

*All items are linked at the end of the post.

Some of our baby favorites are zip onesies, Halo sleepsack, Hatch Rest noise maker, Baby Shusher, Boppy lounger, Pack n Play, Stroller and Car Seat, and Baby Bjorn.

Let's start by talking about the zip onesies. These are the best and Andrew looks so so cute in them! If you buy them from Target they come in sets of three. I would get one set of three for all the different ages. Andrew has already filled out his newborn ones completely and fits comfortably in his ones that are sizes 0-3 months. These make all changes very easy. Tyler also loves putting him in gowns because they are so easy to lift up and change diapers.

Next, is the Halo Sleepsack- WOW! This thing is incredible and I truly feel that it helps him sleep peacefully. We actually got two of these last minute as gifts from a friend when we were leaving the hospital in the size newborn and then the next size up that he will start to wear in a few weeks. This swaddles him so easily and keeps him warm at night. I could not recommend this more for newborn babies. It also has multiple ways to put their arms depending on how they like to sleep.

Currently, Andrew sleeps in the bassinet portion of the Pack n Play and he does great in it. I love it because I can have it right next to my bedside and I can easily reach in and pick him up when it's time to feed. When he grows out of the bassinet part, we will still use the Pack n Play as a portable crib when we go on vacation to the beach in the summer.

When it is time for bed we use the Hatch Rest noisemaker and Baby Shusher. First, I turn on the Hatch noisemaker through the app on my phone and put it on the white noise sound along with the light. I then nurse him and when he is finished I put him in his sleepsack and turn on the baby shusher. After that, I transfer him to his bassinet  and he usually falls asleep until his next feeding. He usually grunts and stirs a little, but I try to keep it dark and only pick him up if he begins to cry! All of these items together have helped make bedtime go fairly smoothly. I would recommend them to all parents with a newborn.

The boppy lounger is the absolute best and most affordable baby lounger in my opinion. He loves resting in his boppy and takes many of his naps there during the day. This is also very helpful for us because he can rest in it when we are eating dinner if one of us is not holding him. I looked at many other baby loungers all costing around $100. This lounger is around $30 and is worth every penny.

We also love our stroller and carrier, Baby Bjorn, and baby bath tub. The stroller is so easy to use and the carrier feels so safe. I love putting him in the Baby Bjorn as I do things around the house and he enjoys laying there close to me. The baby tub we use is so great because it has a sling that he sits in for newborns.

All of these items have been so helpful to us and I hope they can help you as well!

XO,

Jess:)

Andrew’s Birth Story

IMG_6331

I am so excited to be writing this post about our sweet baby’s birth (and I am the luckiest to be looking over at Andrew while he naps as I write this)!  It was a lot longer of a process than we ever expected but it was well worth it when we finally held Andrew on February 5th.

My whole pregnancy I was convinced he was going to come before his due date so I was constantly trying to prepare all that I could every weekend leading up to February. I could barely handle the anticipation! My doctor asked if I wanted to schedule to be induced and I said absolutely. In my mind, I was so ready to have this baby, I was having a hard time continuing to work, and I liked the idea of knowing when the birth could happen. So, my doctor scheduled us to go to the hospital on Andrew’s due date at 5:30pm to start the process of induction.

Monday, February 3rd rolled around and I was so excited! I headed to my regular appointment fully expecting to be ready to go into labor- unfortunately nothing was happening. Five o’clock finally rolled around, we said our goodbyes to Oakley, and Tyler and I headed to the hospital. The nurses got started right away and gave me Cervidil to get things moving along. We tried to relax and watch The Bachelor and settled in to go to sleep. I was having minor contractions but nothing terrible.

Around 1 A.M. I began experiencing contractions that were coming every 4-5 minutes and were very painful. The pain was in my back and it was impossible to rest. Tyler tried multiple ways of rubbing my back and trying to help. We tried stretches and everything. I thought for sure this meant Andrew would be here so soon! At 5 A.M. my midwife came in and asked if I wanted my epidural- there was no point in acting strong at this point-  so I said yes please!! Getting an epidural was very weird but I am very thankful I did!!!

At this point it was around 7 am on February 4th and we were so ready to meet our baby. My doctors kept checking but unfortunately no progress was being made. They started me on Pitocin to help induce labor and my water broke around 7:30 am. I was so excited!! We were headed in the right direction. The Pitocin made me very nauseous and I began to run a fever and get sick. They then gave me antibiotics and the rest of the day is really a blur. I do know that at one point my epidural fell out and I had to get a second one! Haha!! Luckily, I didn’t feel much in between. I was in and out of sleep and preparing for Andrew’s arrival and knew both Tyler and I needed rest. Our parents were in the room and keeping us company all day. It wasn’t until late in the evening where I was only dilated 4-5 cm and we were getting worried. They turned up the Pitocin but mentioned if I didn’t begin to dilate more I would need a c-section. We were getting close to the next day and typically you should have the baby within 24 hours after your water has broken. We kept sleeping and like magic, my doctor came in and discovered that I was completely dilated! It was time to begin pushing!

We were rested and excited and ready to start. I thought it would last maybe 2 hours and I could see the clock right in front of me! It was 4:30 am on Wednesday the 5th. My nurses, doctor, and Tyler, were all so incredible and so helpful. My contractions never went past 3-5 minutes apart so I was able to rest in between each contraction. Somehow, it had been five hours of pushing (I don’t even know how that happened- it really went by fast!) and my doctor said I could have a c- section if I wanted because I had pushed past 4 hours. I asked Tyler what to do and he said it was my decision to make. I felt like we had made it that far and I felt motivated to continue that way. My doctor had us look in a mirror to help encourage my pushing. I was super hesitant for that at first, but I will be honest- it 100% helped me deliver Andrew!!

I continued pushing until about 10:40 am and finally I heard Tyler, my doctor, and the nurse cry out “He’s out, look at his head!!”. I immediately looked into the mirror and saw our sweet baby’s head and within what felt like seconds his whole little body was out and being placed on my stomach. It was the most surreal feeling in the world. I was overwhelmed with emotions and began crying. I could not believe I was finally holding my son. He was so small and alert. They had Tyler cut the umbilical cord and took him away to the warmer to measure him and wipe him off. Watching Tyler’s face as he looked at Andrew was incredible. It is true when they say you love your husband even more when he becomes a father. I could not have done any of this without him. He was the biggest help throughout the whole labor. We have been so blessed with the sweetest baby boy and I am so grateful for our little family.

I will never forget this day and holding Andrew for the first time. The rush of him coming out and the cord being cut is something I can never fully describe. I also cannot believe what my body was capable of in those long hours. To any other soon to be mommas out there, I hope you have a safe and easy delivery and can love on your sweet baby so soon!
